David de Visser

Paitings, drawings, collages

David de Visser (Wijk bij Duurstede, 1960)

The overall subject of his work is the landscape and in particular the Dutch landscape with its rivers, ponds and small lakes. A traditional subject in which he always finds new challenges.

More recently he started making collages with paint, stucco, ink and carton in which he reuses old work. These collages lead to surprising new results because of a well overthought coincidence and give him less control in his work.
Every work, whether a drawing, a painting or a collage, is connected with each other. Every work is part of his quest to and through the landscape, in other words his scenic work.

"Every time I actually create a two-dimensional problem which I have got to solve. Nobody asks me to create that problem and let alone to solve it, but that's exactly what has kept me going over the years."
